English and Foreign Languages

At The English Guild Experience students will have many opportunities to improve their linguistic skills. Students will leave the program with a larger vocabulary, a more confident writing style and improved oral communication skills. All these aspects will form part of the English curriculum covered, where handwritten tasks will be varied and inspire creativity. There will also be regular opportunities for journal writing, letter writing and possibly publishing articles, as well as times to stand up and present or perform to the group.

Students will also be required to keep pace with any foreign language requirements from their home school. Most work will be able to be completed on paper, with vocabulary learning, basic translation, reading work and grammar tasks most appropriate for times dedicated to quiet work. In addition, foreign languages will also be one of the rare opportunities for students to use technology to practice aural and pronunciation skills.

Everyone will also be encouraged to stay in touch with their classmates back home by writing postcards about their experience in whichever language they are hoping to master.
